Are you placing your visitor first?
'To view this website, upgrade to a better browser'
I came accross this website the other day. Admittedly a private site but one that as a user I left, vowing never to return.
The website in question told me to 'get a better browser' as 'This [browser] causes major pain to web developers'. I use Windows IE7 since you ask, and depending on where you look Microsoft have the lions share of the internet browser market.
Website accessibility is important and the W3C do a great job. However, surely website accessibilty means that you should at least be able to see the website in the browser fo your choice.
The message is Hipocritical and mis-guided but is meant with good heart.
Giving choice and flexibility to your visitor, without preaching or dictating means they will enjoy your website stimulate them to do business with you.
So, ask yourself - are you putting your visitor first?
